to North Oakland Medical Centers
(NOMC). We are a non-profit
community hospital in Pontiac,
Michigan, whose mission is to
deliver high quality healthcare
and health-related services in
northern Oakland County in a
cost effective and efficient
manner.
North Oakland Medical Centers,
formerly Pontiac General
Hospital and Oakland County’s
first hospital, is licensed for
366 beds and is home to a wide
variety of specialties
including: Acute Medical
Surgery, Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, Intensive
Pediatric Physical Therapy,
Radiation Oncology, Emergency
Centers (Pontiac and Waterford),
several out-patient clinics, and
Community Services.
Community Services include an
Ambulatory Care Center in
Waterford (including Walk-In
Emergency, Radiology, Lab,
Physical Therapy, and
Occupational Medicine), Teen
Health Centers in Pontiac high
schools, physician practices
throughout Oakland County,
Radiology services in Clarkston
and a durable medical equipment
company. In addition, North
Oakland Medical Centers is home
to NOMC Euro-Pēds, the world’s
first and only hospital-based
intensive physical therapy
program for children with
neuromuscular disorders.

| JCAHO Information for the Public
North Oakland Medical Centers is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO conducts random, unannounced surveys of NOMC.
The purpose of these surveys is to evaluate NOMC’s compliance with nationally established Joint
Commission standards. The survey results are used to determine whether, and the conditions under
which, an accreditation should be awarded to the organization.
Joint Commission standards deal with organizational quality of care issues and the safety of the
environment in which care is provided. If an individual has pertinent and valid concerns
about patient care and safety at NOMC that have not been addressed, he or she is encouraged to
contact the hospital’s management. If the concerns cannot be resolved through the hospital,
the individual is encouraged to contact the Joint Commission.
