JCAHO Information for the Public

North Oakland Medical Centers is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO conducts random, unannounced surveys of NOMC.

The purpose of these surveys is to evaluate NOMC’s compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards. The survey results are used to determine whether, and the conditions under which, an accreditation should be awarded to the organization.

Joint Commission standards deal with organizational quality of care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. If an individual has pertinent and valid concerns about patient care and safety at NOMC that have not been addressed, he or she is encouraged to contact the hospital’s management. If the concerns cannot be resolved through the hospital, the individual is encouraged to contact the Joint Commission.

To report unresolved concerns or to register a complaint, the public may contact the Joint Commission’s Office of Quality Monitoring directly at 1-800-994-6610 or by email at complaint@jcaho.org
