how to apply

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) developed ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service, to transmit residency applications, letters of recommendation, Dean’s Letters, transcripts and other supporting credentials from applicants and medical schools to residency program directors using the Internet. North Oakland Medical Centers accepts applications only through the ERAS Program and does not accept paper applications.

If you’re unfamiliar with ERAS, please go to the ERAS web site for more information. You can also obtain assistance from your Dean’s office, or, in the case of International Graduates, from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.

North Oakland Medical Centers (NOMC) programs do not evaluate candidates using arbitrary scoring levels on standardized exams. Applicants to the programs are reviewed in their entirety and those deemed most qualified are selected for interview.

NOMC programs may consider the applications of candidates who may require a visa to enter the country to train. NOMC will assist any applicant who matches with the program and who must obtain a visa to train in the program. The Human Resources Department will assist the individual and his/her attorney with any required information for the preparation of a H1-B visa application. The Medical Education office will assist the individual and his/her attorney with any required information for the preparation of a J-1 visa application. Matched applicants are responsible for all fees associated with obtaining a visa, including premium processing fees.
