Welcome John Graham - new President and Chief Executive Officer

The NOMC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of John Graham to the position of President & Chief Executive Officer, effective the end of May. Mr. Graham will take the place of current CEO Robert Davis who is retiring after working at NOMC for more than 30 years.

“The Board is very excited to offer this opportunity to Mr. Graham and we’re confident he will help NOMC continue to be the hospital of choice for north Oakland County,” said Rev. Douglas Jones, Chairman of the NOMC Board of Directors.

Mr. Graham has extensive healthcare experience having served most recently as Vice President of Operations at William Beaumont Hospital. While at Beaumont, Mr. Graham brought about a $250 million hospital expansion, reorganized hospital systems to improve efficiency and implemented an Office of Chief Nurse Executive to support nursing staff. Mr. Graham also helped the health system obtain the state’s only Magnet designation, which is the nation’s highest honor for nursing excellence as awarded by the American Nursing Credentialing Center. Also as Vice President, Mr. Graham established systems to improve patient flow while operating at high occupancy, developed a Medical Admission Unit and helped reconfigure staff during changes with the physician residency program.

During his tenure at Beaumont, Mr. Graham held several positions including Vice President, Strategic Development; Director of Managed Care; Associate Hospital Director and Assistant Hospital Director. Some of his accomplishments while working in the positions listed above include establishing a strategic plan to meet changes in volume trends and obtaining additional licensed bed capacity. Mr. Graham also helped establish diagnostic and treatment services in ambulatory settings and reduced the waiting time for diagnostic procedures from seven weeks down to a few days. He also developed a structure to improve the management and financial performance of satellite facilities. Also, he helped secure a $20 million donation for improved research and delivery of care for breast and prostate cancer patients through the creation of the Vattikuti Cancer Institute.

Mr. Graham’s professional experience also includes working as Hospital Director, St. Mary Hospital of Livonia, setting up a health care system in the Middle East, and serving in administrative positions at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

Mr. Graham holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan. He began his health care career as a Director of Pharmacy.

Outside the workplace, Mr. Graham served for six years as the national healthcare administrator member of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Use of Isotopes of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Within the community, he’s on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Arthritis Foundation, Michigan Chapter, having served as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer. He’s also currently on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition and also served as an adjunct professor in hospital administration for the University of Detroit. Mr. Graham also served for two years on a local school board and on the board of the local region of the American Red Cross.
